Hi Fans!
As the 2013-2014 NFL season is
approaching, I’m proud to enter my third season with the Gotham City
Cheerleaders. It’s an exciting time for
our great city, knowing the Super Bowl will take place on our home
grounds. This year we've got a special
treat for all you football lovin', blue-bleeding GCC fans. Every other week, I’m going to be sharing
with you exclusive, behind-the-scenes stories about what it’s like to be a part
of the GCC family and the pro-cheerleading world. From event recaps, to contests, to answering
YOUR questions, this is your all-access pass to all things GCC.
One of the constant questions I’ve
received since my start with the team is, “Are you guys going to come out with
a calendar?” Well...the answer is
finally, YES!!
In case you haven’t heard …. Friday, September 6th we will unveil the first
ever Gotham City Cheerleaders swimsuit calendar titled ALL IN, NEW YORK. The event
is open to the public and will include performances by the cheerleaders, a
swimsuit runway show, football trivia contest and raffles. You can get your
tickets on our site at: www.nyunofficials.com/calendarpremiere.
It’s going to be a night you don’t want to miss!

This calendar is the first of its
kind, as it pays homage to the sights we all know and love around the five
boroughs. As much as we would have loved to take a trip to an exotic location,
I think it was special for us to shoot in areas that are right here at home and that people from all over the world
come to see! We had a blast getting glammed up (shout out to our stylists from
Antoine’s Salon in Jersey!) and traveling to different locations around the
city. In fact, shooting a swimsuit
calendar is just about as glamorous as it sounds - from having your hair and
makeup done and slipping into a custom swimsuit from Sports Illustrated
designer, Diane Raulston, to WERKing your poses for the camera, as a crowd of
spectators forms around you. But I think
I speak for all the girls when I say that the best part about shooting this
calendar was actually the bonding experience it created for all of us.
Aside from the All Pro Convention
in Atlanta, which not everyone attended, this was the first time us girls were
together out of a rehearsal setting. I
happened to be shooting on the first day with some of the rookies - a day so
rainy that we had to wait several hours before we could take any photos. The girls assisting on my shoot were also
mostly rookies, so I didn’t know most of them.
They could have easily complained about getting wet (imagine our hair
and makeup!), or having to wait for so long - but they didn’t.
Instead, we joked and made videos
of all of us huddled under one umbrella, which several times inverted because
of the wind, causing us to laugh even harder.
We sat in the car sharing both the bag of carrots I brought to munch on
and ideas of what we were going to eat once the photo shoot was over (a treat
of some sort was in order!). Our tummies
rumbling in unison, it was at that moment that I felt a real connection with my
new teammates - that we were all in this together and to create an amazing
product as a symbol of our dedication to our team.
Lookout, New York. I am proud to say I have one amazing group of
young, professional woman with a New York state of mind to call my
teammates. From Wall Street to the
Intrepid, this calendar represents the greatest city in the world!
Be sure to check our social media
pages beginning August 24 for a chance to win a free VIP ticket to our calendar
